2Cellos: In2ition Die Version auf CD in Standard- Auflage. Diese besondere Auflage wurde veröffentlicht in Europa im Verlag Masterworks (3) am 25. Januar 2013.
Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, also known as 2Cellos, became a surprise duo in 2011 thanks to a video clip that has been viewed more than a million times on YouTube. A widely acclaimed debut album and a world tour with Elton John followed. Now they are releasing a new CD in January. The album, produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin, is called In2ition. For the new album, the two cellists have brought in Elton John, star Lang Lang, legendary Italian singer Zuccher and pop singer Sky Ferreira as guests. IN2ITION offers brand new readings of selected pop classics from artists such as Fleetwood Mac ("Oh, Well" with Elton John), The Prodigy ("Voodoo People"), Coldplay ("Clocks" with Lang Lang), Rihanna ("We Found Love"), AC/DC ("Highway To Hell" with Steve Vai), Muse ("Supermassive Black Hole" with Naya Rivera), Cher and Nancy Sinatra ("Bang Bang" with Sky Ferreira), The Police ("Every Breath You Take") and Elton John ("Candle In The Wind"). "Elton suggested we record 'Oh Well' because it seemed perfect for the cello. We agreed to go for it if he would join in as a singer, and he actually agreed," Stjepan explained. "It's a little-known song by Fleetwood Mac and Elton's voice sounds very impressive here." The first single is a very strong rendition of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell", featuring guitar master Steve Vai. "The fans really love this song at our live shows, so we wanted to include it on the album," Stjepan shares his feelings. "It was fascinating to work with such a special musician like Steve because we wanted to prove to people that the cello can play as hard as the guitar," Luka added. 2CELLOS' career got a big boost in January when the duo appeared on an episode of the Michael Jackson-themed Glee and sang the song "Smooth Criminal" with actress Naya Rivera, who plays Santana. It was the first time an instrumental group had guested on the hit show. On the recording session, the two cellists became friends with Rivera, who appears on the CD in the song "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse. "Naya's voice is really sexy - it's perfect for this song," Stjepan said. "We mimicked Muse's amazing guitar riff on the cello and added different sound effects to give our traditionally classical instrument a more modern, rockier sound." IN2ITION also features an original 2CELLOS track aptly titled "Orient-Express". The Orient Express was a legendary train that ran between Paris and Istanbul and traversed the Balkans, including Croatia. "Melodically we were inspired by the famous Balkan music and the constant, permanent rhythm is reminiscent of a train," Luka explained.
