Named after the city that propelled Alice Cooper's original band to success, "Detroit Stories" follows last year's "Breadcrumbs" EP and is a modern tribute to the hardest and craziest rock 'n' roll scene of all time. In 1970, a young producer named Bob Ezrin went to a farm in suburban Detroit to work with Alice Cooper's band. Alice had left the flower power of Los Angeles because she was the opposite of the hippie ideal of peace and love. She brought his decidedly darker crew back to his birthplace in the legendary rock scene that gave birth to hard rock, garage rock, soul, funk, punk... and more. The incredible live performance of "A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris" is available on DVD and Blu-ray for the first time on video. "Detroit was the center of heavy rock at the time," Alice explains, "they played Eastown and there was Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, The Stooges and The Who, for $4! The next weekend in Grande it was the MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac or Savoy Brown or Small Faces. You couldn't be a soft rock band or you'd get your ass kicked." "Los Angeles had their sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield," he says, "San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. Because we didn't fit in anywhere in the U.S. (musically or image-wise), Detroit was the only place that recognized Alice Cooper's guitar-driven hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit, we were home."
