Balthazar is a Belgian band that has already attracted attention in Germany with their gigs in support of dEUS and acclaimed performances at the Immergut and c/o pop festivals. Now, the long-awaited debut album is finally out and has already won the Music Industry Award for the best album of 2011 in Belgium. Balthazar's brilliant pop is probably best compared to Phoenix, but the Belgian quintet still manages to find its own sonic language. The debut was produced by Ynge Leiduler Saetre (Kings of Conviction, Royksopp) and it's safe to assume that Balthazar will be one of the new releases of 2011.
