She lets her emotions flow gently throughout each song and throughout the set, alternating between her interpretation. In this way, she reflects the complex emotional states we all succumb to time and time again. According to Nate Hentoff, who wrote the accompanying liner notes, this is why you can listen to Holiday's albums over and over again and still always discover new meanings. She's backed by a top-notch band that includes Harry "Sweets" Eddison, Barney Kessel, Ben Webster and Jimmy Rowles, among others. A gem in monochrome!
