The Foo Fighters released their ninth studio album Concrete and Gold on September 15, 2017. The album was produced by Greg Kurstin, who has also produced albums for Adele, Sia and Beck. The Foo Fighters announced the album's release in June 2017 and released the lead single "Run" in August. The second single from the album, "The Sky Is a Neighborhood", was released in September. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 123,000 album equivalents in its first week. It is the third Foo Fighters album in a row to debut at number one. The album Concrete and Gold was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album was well received by critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standard rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 81 based on 22 reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called the album "the Foo Fighters' most diverse and adventurous album " and said that on it "the band takes on new sounds and styles and is all the better for it".
