Founded in Cologne in 1980, Grave Digger was at the forefront of the German heavy metal movement that swept the world in the early 1980s. In 1984, Grave Digger released their groundbreaking debut album "Heavy Metal Breakdown" on Noise Records, which was enthusiastically received by press and fans alike. This was followed a year later by a second album, "Witch Hunter", which catapulted the band even further into the hearts and minds of the global metal scene. With the third album "War Games" the band embarked on a noise tour with label mates Helloween & Celtic Frost. A change of sound and a more commercial style followed in 1987 with the album "Stronger Than Ever", on which the band removed the first part of their name and became Digger. Six months later, due to the commercial failure of the album, they parted ways. In 1991, the band reformed and released a comeback album "The Reaper" in 1993. To date, they have released 18 albums and continue to tour worldwide. Grave Digger's second album "Witch Hunter" is considered a classic in the annals of heavy metal and became an instant hit upon its release in 1985. This remastered version includes liner notes by former guitarist Peter Masson and the original lyrics. The vinyl edition has been out of print for 20 years.
