Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool present the long-awaited follow-up to their 2009 Grammy Award-winning album "21st Century Breakdown," which reached number one on the charts. Green Day and their regular producer Rob Cavallo (Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne) are currently recording in Oakland, California. ¡Uno!", "¡Dos!" and "¡Tré!" "¡Uno!" kicked off on September 21, with the next two albums to follow on November 9 and January 11, 2013. Green Day said of the most ambitious project of their successful career to date, "We're at the absolute peak of our creativity and creative power right now - these songs are the best pieces of music we've ever written, and the songs just keep flowing out of us! Instead of one album this time around, we're releasing a collection of three albums. Each song has energy and power and covers the full range of Green Day's feelings. We can't help it - the next albums are just going to be epic as fuck!" The Berkeley-raised and Berkeley-based band Green Day had their big pop-punk breakthrough with their third album, 1994's "Dookie." With more than 15 million units sold and a Grammy Award in the "Best Alternative Music Performance" category, the trio quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in both the mainstream and alternative rock scenes with subsequent albums "Insomniac" (1995), "Nimrod" (1997) and "Warning" (2000). With 2004's "American Idiot," Green Day immediately hit the top spot on the Billboard charts. With a total of five hit singles and seven (!) Grammy Award nominations (two of which the band won), Green Day raised the bar for modern rock. The band won another Grammy in the "Best Rock Album" category for their subsequent 2009 album "21st Century Breakdown". With two singles, the gold-award winning "Know Your Enemy" (the first song in history to top the Billboard, Alternative and Mainstream Rock charts!) and the double-platinum single "21 Guns" (for which Green Day won a total of three MTV Video Music Awards), the Californians have cemented their superstar status. Green Day won two prestigious Tony Awards for the musical American Idiot.
