Conspiracy is the fourth studio album by Danish heavy metal band King Diamond , released on 21 June 1989. The album was recorded at Soundtrack Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark between December 1988 and April 1989. It was produced by King Diamond and Andy LaRocque. The album was mixed by LaRocque and Dan Swanö. The album tells the story of a man who is wrongly accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death. He is brought to a torture chamber where he is subjected to various forms of torture, including waterboarding. He eventually dies, but not before cursing the people who killed him. The album's lyrics were written by King Diamond and Pete Blakk. The album was very well received by music critics. In 1990, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
