In 2016, the Canadian musician and songwriter is re-releasing her legendary fifth studio album "The Mask And Mirror" in a limited edition. "The Mask And Mirror" was originally released on March 15, 1994. The album achieved gold status in the US. As on many of Loreena McKennitt's other albums, the songwriting on "The Mask And Mirror" is heavily influenced by the singer's travels. In particular, stays in Spain and Morocco provided her with new inspiration for songs like "Santiago" and "Marrakesh Night Market". One of the album's best-known tracks, however, is the single "The Bonny Swans". Finally: with "The Mask And Mirror", Loreena McKennitt's fifth album of 2016 is available on vinyl again. Meanwhile, "The Mask And Mirror" has sold more than three million copies worldwide and won the Juno Prize for "Best Roots/Traditional Album" in 1995. Spanish, Celtic and Moroccan influences are evident in the songs, which trace a journey of inspiration from Ireland to Santiago de Compostella. In addition to setting the poems of St. John of the Cross and William Shakespeare, the album includes eclectic original lyrics full of texture - such as the seductively dramatic "The Music's Dream" (featured in Paramount Pictures' Jade) and "Marrakesh Night Market."
