(Ludovico Einaudi) Ludovico Einaudi develops the enormous potential of musical variations on "Seven Days Walking". Ludovico Einaudi got the inspiration for this project during his walks in winter mountain landscapes. "Last January I often walked in the mountains, on long hikes, always more or less following the same path. There was a lot of snow and my thoughts had free rein in the blizzard, where all the shapes are destroyed by the frost, losing their outlines and colours. This feeling of extreme existence may have been the source of this album," says Einaudi. Just as the same landscape can look completely different on different days, musical variations of a theme can evoke different moods. The first album, Day 1, introduces several themes that are then developed musically throughout the series. Einaudi's new piano pieces are reminiscent of his distinctive early solo recordings. In "Seven Days Walking," the composer expands them to include cellos and violins, combining the gentle sounds of strings with his meditative, soothing melodies.
