Mit »Music Complete« bringen New Order 2015 ihr erstes Album nach zehn Jahren heraus. Und darauf gibt es jede Menge Neuigkeiten.

Zunächst einmal ist es das erste Album ohne ihren langjährigen Bassisten Peter Hook. Hook hatte die Band im Jahr 2007 verlassen. An seiner Stelle spielt nun Tom Chapman den Bass.

Weiterhin dürfen sich Fans über die Rückkehr einer alten Bekannten freuen: Gillian Gilbert wirkte wieder aktiv an der Produktion des Albums mit. Die Keyboarderin war zuletzt auf dem 2001er Album »Get Ready« zu hören.

Für ihr mittlerweile zehntes Studioalbum suchten sich New Order zudem eine neue Plattenfirma. Mute Records heißt das Label, dass jetzt hinter der Band steht.

Insgesamt elf Songs sind auf »Music Complete« zu hören, darunter auch die erste Singleauskopplung »Restless«, die die Band bereits im Juli 2015 veröffentlicht hatte. Und die klingt unverkennbar nach New Order. Gitarren und elektronische Sounds sind perfekt ausbalanciert, im Gesang von Bernard Sumner liegen Melancholie und Optimismus. Die zweite Auskopplung, mit der die Band im September des Jahres einen weiteren Vorgeschmack auf das Album gab, geht in eine etwas andere Richtung. »Plastic« ist deutlich elektronischer und ein tanzbarer Discosong.

Beide Stücke lassen einiges von den übrigen neun Liedern auf »Music Complete« erwarten, von denen die Band die meisten selbst produzierte. Lediglich bei vier Songs holten sich New Order Unterstützung, aber nicht von irgendwem: Tom Rowlands von den Chemical Brothers half bei der Produktion der Songs: »Singularity«, »Unlearn This Hatred« und »Tutti Frutti«; das Lied »Superheated« produzierte der britische Housemusiker und -produzent Stuart Price.

Auch ein paar prominente Gastmusiker sind auf »Music Complete« vertreten: The-Killers-Frontman Brandon Flowers, Sängerin Elly Jackson (La Roux) und der ›Godfather of Punk‹ Iggy Pop.

Comeback oder Neuanfang – wie man es auch nennt: New Order melden sich 2015 mit einem verdammt starken Album zurück. »Music Complete« macht deutlich, dass sie immer noch da sind.

Still there With "Music Complete", New Order released their first album in ten years in 2015. And there's plenty of news about it. First of all, it's the first album without their longtime bassist Peter Hook. Hook left the band in 2007. Tom Chapman now plays bass in his place. In addition, fans can look forward to the return of an old friend: Gillian Gilbert was again actively involved in the production of the album. The keyboardist was last heard on the 2001 album "Get Ready". New Order also found a new record label for their tenth studio album. The band is now backed by Mute Records. "Music Complete" features a total of eleven songs, including the band's first single "Restless", which was released back in July 2015. And it sounds unmistakably like New Order. The guitars and electronic sounds are perfectly balanced and Bernard Sumner's vocals contain both melancholy and optimism. The second single, which gave the band another album preview in September this year, goes in a slightly different direction. "Plastic" is clearly a more electronic and danceable disco song. Both tracks give us reason to expect a lot from the other nine songs on "Music Complete," most of which the band produced themselves. Only on four songs did New Order get support, but not from just anyone: Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers co-produced "Singularity", "Unlearn This Hatred" and "Tutti Frutti"; the song "Superheated" was produced by British house musician and producer Stuart Price. The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, singer Elly Jackson (La Roux) and the "godfather of punk" Iggy Pop also appear on "Music Complete".
