It is all the more pleasing that the band managed to exceed all expectations. The quintet from Down Under stayed true to their signature sound, but what's amazing about "Deep Blue" is how the band managed to mold the music, lyrics and artwork into a dynamic whole. Producer Joe Barresi, known for his work with Queens Of The Stone Age, Bad Religion and Tool, wasn't entirely innocent of this. "We had a concept in our heads that we followed. And the songs were very purposefully crafted this time," says frontman Winston McCall. The Australians are among the absolute best in their country; their DVD released in 2009 is the best-selling visual record by an Australian artist.
