The album was produced by Queen and David Richards and features the singles "Radio Ga Ga", "I Want to Break Free", "It's a Hard Life" and "Hammer to Fall". The Works was the first album to feature drummer Roger Taylor's vocals on Queen's "I Want to Break Free" . The album was praised by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called it "one of Queen's most consistent albums " and praised the "fiery" tracks "Radio Ga Ga", "I Want to Break Free" and "Hammer to Fall". The Works was commercially successful, reaching number two in the United Kingdom and number three on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for one million units shipped.
