Keyboard and rock legend Rick Wakeman, known for his worldwide success with Yes and The Strabs, is celebrating Christmas this year with his new album "Christmas Portraits", on which he arranges a selection of his favourite and best-known Christmas tunes for solo piano, including "Silent Night", "Away In A Manger" and "The First Noel". Wakeman has worked with many rock stars throughout his career, including David Bowie, Elton John and Black Sabbath, and in 2017 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band Yes. Now the former Royal College of Music student and friend is putting his typical Wakeman twist on Christmas classics, transforming evergreens into lush new medleys and playing them on his beloved Granary Steinway D piano. Rick Wakeman is excited about this new project at the most wonderful time of the year: 'Christmas is my absolute favourite time of the year. I enjoy every second and every aspect of it, especially the traditional carols and their wonderful catchy melodies. They are great for piano variations. It makes me very happy and it makes me happy."
