Running Wild boasts an impressive list of 16 studio albums. The Hamburg-based metal band around mainman Rolf "Rock'n'Rolf" Kasparek has long since established itself as a stalwart of the diverse scene. Their unique asset, however, is their lyrics, which deal with historical events with great attention to detail, most of which directly shine with their knowledge of pirate culture and turn-of-the-century seafaring. A welcome change for metal fans and also a theme that Hollywood loves to use and which has met with wide approval in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, among others. "The Rivalry", which was released in 1976, sold over 200,000 units and "made" the Top 20 in Germany (19th place), as well as "Victory", which was even more successful in sales but only reached 26th place due to the strong competition at the time, count as "late works" so to speak. All the more mature are the skills of the band here, which on both albums details the constant struggle between "good and evil" and presents metal fans with brilliant compositions. With two invitations to the legendary Wacken Heavy Metal Happening, Running Wild is undoubtedly one of the top representatives of the scene. Both albums appear here for the first time on vinyl, except for an excerpt from the EP, which contains only four tracks from "The Rivalry".
