When Stone Temple Pilots returned to the studio in 1994 to work on their second album, they were feeling the pressure of anticipation created by their Grammy Award-winning debut Core (1992), which sold more than 8 million copies. Released on June 7, 1994, Purple not only withstood the pressure but cemented their position as one of the defining bands of their generation. The album reached number one on the US charts and sold more than 6 million copies in total. To mark the 25th anniversary of its first release, Rhino now announces the release of a newly remastered version of Purple, enhanced with rare and previously unreleased studio and concert footage.
