The busy Czech publishing house Indies Scope has compiled a four-volume anthology of folk music from the Czech region of Moravia. However, the focus is not so much on historical recordings as it is on recordings by currently active groups that are shaping the contemporary musical landscape. All four volumes of the anthology contain extensive booklets with explanatory notes on the musical culture of each region. They are available individually or as a complete work in a cardboard slipcase. The first volume deals with the South Moravian region of Horňáck at the foot of the White Carpathians on the border with Slovakia. The proximity of Slovakia is clearly reflected in the rhythms and melodies of Horňák's music.
