The founder and bandleader of Wardruna has been hitting the road for several years now with purely acoustic concerts and readings featuring solo versions of Wardruna songs as well as songs he composed for the TV series "Vikings." Parts of this material are now finally available as "Live In The Studio" recordings, made at Solslottet studio in Bergen, Norway. All album formats include a comprehensive booklet with all the lyrics, including translations, and a detailed introduction to Norwegian poetry and skalds, co-written by acclaimed Icelandic author and Nordic philologist Bergsveinn Birgisson. "Skald" takes the listener on a musical journey beyond the familiar multi-layered striking soundscapes of Wardrun, to a simpler and more straightforward form where voice, poetry and original instruments such as the kravik lyre, taglharpa and bukkehorn make their way.
