17th-Century Italian Baroque Composer and Violinist

Giovanni Buonaventura Viviani was an Italian composer and violinist born in Florence in 1638. He was a significant figure in the Baroque music era, although not as widely known as some of his contemporaries. Viviani's career included time spent in various European courts, which was common for musicians of his era seeking patronage and recognition. In 1656, he became a violinist at the court of Ferdinand III in Vienna, and later he served at the court of Archduke Ferdinand Charles in Innsbruck.
