Jeanne Lamon was a highly respected Canadian violinist and conductor, renowned for her expertise in baroque music. Born on August 14, 1949, in New York, she moved to Canada in the 1970s and became a pivotal figure in the country's early music scene. Lamon served as the Music Director of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, one of Canada's premier period-instrument ensembles, from 1981 until her retirement in 2014. Under her leadership, Tafelmusik gained international acclaim for its vibrant and expressive performances. Lamon's work with the orchestra included numerous recordings, tours, and appearances at prestigious venues and festivals around the world. Her dedication to historically informed performance practice significantly contributed to the wider appreciation of baroque music. Jeanne Lamon passed away on June 20, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in baroque performance and interpretation.
