Robert Black

Robert Black is a distinguished contemporary classical bassist known for his solo performances and collaborations with various ensembles and composers. He is a founding member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars, an internationally recognized group dedicated to the performance of new music. Throughout his career, Black has been involved in commissioning and premiering new works for the double bass, expanding the instrument's repertoire and pushing its boundaries. His contributions to contemporary music have been significant, as he has worked with an array of composers and performed at numerous festivals and venues around the world. Black's dedication to teaching is also notable; he has held faculty positions at institutions such as the Hartt School of Music and has conducted master classes and workshops internationally.
