The Suk Chamber Orchestra is a Czech string ensemble named after the famous Czech composer and violinist Josef Suk (1874–1935), who was the grandson-in-law of Antonín Dvořák. The orchestra specializes in the performance of chamber and string orchestra repertoire, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. It was founded in 1974 by Josef Vlach, the former concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and has since then gained recognition both domestically and internationally. The ensemble is known for its rich sound and interpretative qualities, often collaborating with prominent soloists and conductors. They have recorded a variety of works, including those by their namesake Josef Suk, as well as other composers. The Suk Chamber Orchestra has toured extensively and has made numerous recordings that have contributed to their reputation as one of the leading chamber orchestras from the Czech Republic.
