Dutch Progressive Metal/Rock Project

The Gentle Storm is a collaborative project between Dutch musicians Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen. Arjen Lucassen is known for his progressive rock/metal project Ayreon, while Anneke van Giersbergen is renowned for her work as the former lead singer of the band The Gathering and for her subsequent solo career. The Gentle Storm's music can be characterized as a blend of folk, classical, and heavy metal elements. Their debut album, "The Diary," released in 2015, is a concept album that tells a love story set in the 17th century with both gentle (acoustic) and storm (heavy) versions of each track, showcasing the versatility of the project. The collaboration brought together their respective fan bases and showcased their ability to craft a narrative through music that spans across different genres.
