The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich is a Swiss symphony orchestra based in Zürich. Its principal residence is the Tonhalle concert hall. Founded in 1868, it has become one of Switzerland's most prestigious orchestras, with a reputation for excellence both nationally and internationally. Over the years, the orchestra has been led by a number of distinguished conductors, including such notable figures as Friedrich Hegar, Volkmar Andreae, and David Zinman. Under the baton of these and other maestros, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich has produced a rich discography that includes works from the classical and romantic repertoires as well as contemporary pieces.
