Record label WATT was established in 1972 by Carla Bley and Michael Mantler , devoted to the presentation of their music. Watt is now exclusively used for Carla Bley releases and run by Carla Bley and Steve Swallow with manufacturing and distribution by ECM Records. XtraWatt and SubWatt are sub labels of Watt. Watt was originally a US label distributed as a sub label by JCOA/NDMS - Jazz Composers Orchestra and New Music Distribution Service, with Carla and Michael Mantler as founding members of the JCOA label using Watt to release their own music. Later the label was licensed by ECM to handle back catalog items and new releases. ECM has been manufactured/distributed in the USA by Warner Bros.
