Dropkick Murphys far from home "11 Short Stories Of Pain And Glory" is the title of the new, ninth studio album of Dropkick Murphys. It is released on the band's own label Born & Bred. The Irish-American folk-punkers took almost four years to release the follow-up to their Top 10 album "Signed And Sealed In Blood". The wait was worth it. The title "11 tales of pain and glory" says it all. Al Barr (vocals), Ken Casey (vocals, bass), James Lynch (guitar), Matt Kelly (drums), Tim Brennan (guitar, accordion) and Jeff DaRosa (mandolin, tin whistle, banjo, acoustic guitar) came up with a total of eleven punk rock short stories for their new album and then recorded them. Together with producer Ted Hutt, they went into the Sonic Ranch studio in El Paso, Texas. This is an absolute first for the Murphys, as they have recorded all of their previous albums in their home state of Massachusetts. The album title is wisely chosen in terms of content as well. Their lyrics are about the successes and tragedies of everyday life, from their childhood in Boston to the present day. The band presented the first taste of "11 Short Stories Of Pain And Glory" back in November 2016 with the song "Blood". And it clearly shows where the record is heading: Dropkick Murphys remain true to their blend of punk and Irish folk in 2017 - thankfully.
