Frank Zappa "Zappa '88: The Last U.S. Show" is a 1988 live album recorded on December 7, 1988 at the Uris Theatre in New York City. The album was released in 1991 and contains material from the 1988 tour. The album was recorded shortly before Zappa's death and is considered one of his best live albums. The album contains Zappa's usual eclectic mix of rock, jazz and classical music.

Last Zappa Band concert in the USA In 1993, rock legend Frank Zappa died. Five years earlier, from February to June 1988, Zappa's band made its last tour of North America and Europe. Zappa expanded his tenth band to a twelve-piece ensemble. In addition to the singer and musician himself, the big band included drummer Chad Wackerman, bassist Scott Thunes, guitarist Ike Willis, vocalist Bobby Martin, keyboardist and vocalist Mike Keneally, percussionist Ed Mann, trumpeter Walt Fowler, trombonist Bruce Fowler, and saxophonists Paul Carman, Albert Wing, and Kurt McGettrick. The band had a repertoire of over 100 songs (mostly Zappa's). Zappa and his band played their last concert in the USA on 25 March 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. At the time, no one knew it would be their last concert in the US. After a few more concerts in Europe, the band suddenly broke up before the official end of the tour. A recording of this special performance, "Zappa '88: The Last U.S. Show," will be available on CD and vinyl in 2021. A total of 29 previously unreleased live performances from Uniondale, NY, Providence, Rhode Island and Towson, Maryland await, as well as two additional recordings from the tour: Zappa's rendition of the Led Zeppelin classic "Stairway To Heaven" and the Allman Brothers Band's "Whipping Post." "Zappa '88: The Last U.S. Show" is available either as a double CD in a six-panel softpack or as a vinyl set of four 180-gram black LPs.
