The album was recorded on 10 and 11 February 2020 at Foro Sol in Mexico City during the band's Legacy of the Beast world tour. It was the band's first live album featuring vocalist Bruce Dickinson since 1992's Fear of the Dark. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one in six countries and earning a gold certificate in the United States. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The album was also the first the band released on vinyl. Iron Maiden : Nights Of The Dead, Legacy Of The Beast: Live In Mexico City features live versions of songs from throughout the band's career, including several tracks from their most recent album, 2020's Legacy of the Beast.
