The producer is once again Kevin Shirley, who brought excellent musicians into the studio for Joe: For "Different Shades Of Blue" he engaged Reese Wynans (organ, piano), Carmine Rojas and Michael Rhodes (bass), Anton Figo (drums and percussion), Lenny Castro (percussion), Lee Thornburg (trumpet and trombone), Ron Dziubla (saxophone), Bovaland Orchestra (strings) and Doug Henthorn and Melanie Williams to provide backing vocals. Together in the studio, the core band perfected the final versions of Joe's original ideas. What originally started as a jam turned into perfectly produced and mixed tracks.
