Live Energy in the Studio Kenny Wayne Shepherd began writing songs for his new, eighth album two years ago. In early 2017, the virtuoso blues-rock guitarist moved to Echophone Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he and his band recorded "Lay It On Down." His band consists of Noah Hunt (vocals), Jim McGorman (keyboards), Kevin McCormick (bass) and Chris Layton (drums). Shepherd himself took over some of the vocal parts and guitar parts. Together with producer Marshall Altman, the musicians recorded a total of ten new blues-rock anthems and an acoustic version of the title track "Lay It On Down" in the studio. Already the first single "Baby Got Gone" clearly shows the lively energy and high quality of their playing together. And so "Lay It On Down" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and the band has become a great, varied and modern blues-rock album.
