Even if that's not true, Miles Davis was one of the greatest musical innovators of the 20th century; a pioneer of cool jazz (1949's "Birth Of The Cool"), modal jazz ("Kind Of Blue" in 1959) and fusion with 1970's "Bitches Brew". "Bitches Brew Live" collects recordings of two performances: the first three tracks were recorded at the Newport Jazz Festival in July 1969 - a few weeks before the "Bitches Brew Sessions" in August of that year - and have never been released. Davis has performed with Chick Corea on electric piano, Dave Holland on acoustic bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums; all of these musicians were instrumental in the development of the fusion movement. The version of "Miles Runs The Voodoo Down" is the first professionally recorded version of this song. Auf der vorliegenden CD "Bitches Brew Live" sind diese bislang unveröffentlichten Aufnahmen erstmals zu hören, zusammen mit weiteren Tracks vom Isle Of Wight Festival 29.
