Nine-time Grammy winner Norah Jones has now released her new album Little Broken Hearts on Blue Note/EMI, another collaboration with producer and musician Danger Mouse. The two artists have known each other since the release of the critically acclaimed Danger Mouse album ROME (2011), on which Jones sang three tracks. The chemistry between the two was already so good at the time that they spontaneously decided to release Jones' fifth album together. The album Little Broken Hearts consists entirely of new Jones / Danger Mouse songs. It's a fascinating next step in the artistic evolution of one of the most amazing singers of the last decade. In this work, two incomparably distinctive styles come together to create an entirely new sound. When preparing the ROME album, Danger Mouse took notice of Norah Jones' unique voice because it was a perfect fit for his homage to classic Italian film music. He had previously chosen Jack White for the male role before he and his partner Daniel Luppi realized that Norah's voice would add the perfect and necessary balance to the project. So Jones has recorded three great songs for ROME (you can hear an acoustic version of "Black" at RollingStone. com). Around the same time, she began writing more material with Danger Mouse, which can eventually be heard on Little Broken Hearts. Last fall, the duo completed the existing tracks at Danger Mouse's Los Angeles studio. All of the songs were written there practically from scratch. Jones and Danger Mouse not only contributed to the songwriting, but also most of the instruments: Jones was responsible for piano, keyboards, bass and guitar, while Danger Mouse contributed drums, bass, guitar, keys and string arrangements.
