Completely remastered cover and new liner notes by Henry Scott-Irvine The album, released in January 1968, followed the band's huge international success with their debut single "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" and the follow-up single "Homburg". "Procol Harum" is one of the best albums from this period and impresses with the excellent songwriting of Gary Brooker (vocals, piano) and Keith Reid, as well as the skill of the other musicians Robin Trower (solo guitar), David Knights (bass), B. J. Wilson (drums) and Matthew Fisher (Hammond organ). The result was a collection of songs that was groundbreaking in its uniqueness, despite producer Denny Cordell's insistence that the mix be monophonic.
