Musical Portrait Suzanne Vega released her new ninth studio album in 2016, "Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers". The long-player comes just two years after her last release, "Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles". "Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers" is based on the play "Carson McCullers Talks About Love" about the life of the famous American writer Carson McCullers (1917-1967). Vega wrote the play, a fictional autobiography, herself and took on the role of the author. As an author, she looks back on her life, love and art. In doing so, her inner demons repeatedly catch up with her. The play premiered in New York in 2011. For the album "Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers" the singer-songwriter composed a total of ten songs, eight of them with Duncan Sheik and two with Michael Jefry Stevens. The new album was produced by musician and producer Gerry Leonard, who has worked with David Bowie. And finally: the soundtrack to the play by Suzanne Vega. "Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers" is an impressive musical portrait of the great American writer.
