Faith is the third studio album by English rock band The Cure , released on 18 October 1981 by the Fiction record label. The album was recorded over eight weeks in London in 1981 with producer Mike Hedges. It was The Cure 's first album with bassist Simon Gallup, who had previously been in the band Fools Dance. The album was a departure from the band's earlier guitar work and featured a minimalist sound with an emphasis on keyboards, synthesizers and drum machines.
