Never has a combo played so hauntingly and well at the same time." The Meters is the debut album by New Orleans-based American funk band The Meters. It's a major work of the funk scene that just oozes energy and soul. The quartet was led by organist Art Neville, with guitarist Leo Nocentelli playing alongside him and the rhythm section consisting of bassist George Porter and drummer Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste. New Orleans funk in its purest form and beauty made this album so remarkable. The Meters were formed in 1965 and are considered pioneers of funk along with artists like James Brown.
