Simply the Best was a huge success, reaching number one in several countries and selling over 20 million copies worldwide. The album's biggest hit was the song "The Best", which reached number one in several countries and was later certified platinum in the United States. Other hits from the album include "What's Love Got to Do with It", "I Don't Wanna Lose You" and "Proud Mary". Simply the Best is often considered Turner's best album and is cited as a major influence on later pop and R&B music.

Simply The Best is an eighteen-track collection of Tina Turner's favourite love songs, including, of course, What's Love Got To Do With It, I Don't Wanna Lose You, Steamy Windows and Private Dancer. The compilation, originally released on CD in 1991, has gone multi-platinum worldwide. It stayed in the UK charts for over two years and is one of the best-selling compilations of all time. Tina Turner turns 80 on 26 November, but her career is not over yet and she still has new fans. In March 2018, Tina - The Tina Turner Musical premiered at London's Aldwych Theatre and garnered the best reviews. Radio 4's Front Row said it was "One of the most impressive musicals I've ever seen" and The Times called it "a riotous musical triumph".
