It was the idea of Peter Bursch, national guitar teacher and bandleader of krautrock legend Bröselmaschine, to assemble a famous group of popular musicians 20 years after Jimi Hendrix's death and hold a tribute concert to Rockpalast in 1991. Rockpalast leader Peter Rüchel and director Christian Wagner were quickly enthusiastic about the idea. Through personal contacts, Peter managed to find some really capable musicians who were willing to take on the idea. The result was a stellar band made up of a very diverse group of exceptional musicians such as Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions) who also took on the musical direction of the project, Jack Bruce (Cream, West, Bruce and Laing), John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, UK, Asia and many others), Simon Phillips (The Who, Toto, Asia and many others) and many more. The idea of presenting Hendrix's songs with very different singers was particularly appealing. Unfortunately, the popular Gianna Nannini, whom Peter Rüchel introduced, had to cancel her participation at short notice. However, with Jule Neigel, Michael Flexig, Jack Bruce, John Wetton and backing singers Nadja Ollig and Jane Palmer, they had a number of exceptional singers at their disposal. In the end, Peter Rüchel managed to convince the hottest Jimi Hendrix cover band around, Randy Hansen, to participate. This concert is the Rockpalast recording that has been most frequently repeated on German television in recent years. Feat.
