Yes songs, released in 1973, is a live album by the progressive rock band Yes . The album was recorded during the band's tour in support of Close to the Edge and features performances of songs from that album and from previous albums. Yes Songs was commercially successful, reaching number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and number 8 on the US Billboard 200. The album was praised by critics, who called it "a masterpiece" and "one of the best live albums ever made".

In 1973, Yes released their first live album, a three-album set that, despite its potentially daunting scope, became a major success for the band. The album YESSONGS was produced by the band with Eddie Offord and was recorded following Yes' tour for 1972's CLOSE TO THE EDGE. The band went through all of their recordings from that tour and the 1971 FRAGILE album and selected the material they felt was the best. This was particularly useful as Offord had toured with the band on both tours and was therefore very familiar with the material. It is worth noting that there was a slight change in the Yes line-up during the period covered by YESSONGS, as drummer Bill Bruford left the band after the completion of CLOSE TO THE EDGE. On most of the YESSONGS tracks Bruford was replaced by Alan White, but on "Perpetual Change" and "Long Distance Runaround" / "The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" you can still hear our Bill on drums. YESSONGS contains tracks ranging in length from just under three minutes ("Mood for a Day") to 18 minutes and 13 seconds ("Close to the Edge"), and four other tracks exceed the ten-minute mark, so it's no wonder the album was released as a three-LP set. However, the album's size did not deter Yes fans: the album reached #12 on the Billboard 200, #7 on the UK album chart, and in 1998 the Recording Industry Association of America announced that the album had gone platinum.
