Palehound is an American indie rock project founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Ellen Kempner. The band first gained attention with their 2013 debut EP, "Bent Nail," which showcased Kempner's knack for introspective lyrics and intricate guitar work. Palehound's first full-length album, "Dry Food," was released in 2015 to critical acclaim, with many praising its emotional depth and Kempner's evolution as a songwriter. The album's raw, lo-fi sound and candid storytelling helped establish Palehound as a notable act within the indie rock scene. Following "Dry Food," Palehound released "A Place I'll Always Go" in 2017, further solidifying their reputation for crafting deeply personal and sonically adventurous music. The project has continued to evolve, with Kempner often addressing themes of identity, vulnerability, and personal growth through her music.
