X-Ray Spex was a pioneering punk rock band formed in 1976 in London, England, known for their incisive social commentary and innovative sound. The band was led by Poly Styrene (born Marianne Joan Elliott-Said), whose distinctive voice and thought-provoking lyrics became a hallmark of their music. X-Ray Spex stood out in the punk scene with their use of saxophone, played by Lora Logic and later by Rudi Thomson, which added a unique dimension to their sound. They released their debut single "Oh Bondage Up Yours!" in 1977, which is widely regarded as a classic of the punk era and an anthem of the feminist movement.
