"Distance Over Time" is the fourteenth album from the New York band, the follow-up to 2016's "The Astonishing". James LaBrie, John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and Mike Mangini recorded a total of nine new songs for it, which have a combined length of around 57 minutes. Dream Theater recorded "Distance Over Time" over four months at the remote Yonderbarn studios in Monticello, NY. For the first time in the band's history, they worked together on an album from start to finish in the same location. As usual, Petrucci took care of the production. Mixing was done by Ben Grosse, mastering by Tom Baker. Untethered Angel" was the first preview of the new album. And it shows: in 2019, Dream Theater returns to its roots.
