Motörhead's fifth studio album was released in 1982 and is the last of the original line-up, as "Fast" guitarist Eddie Clarke left the band after completing "Iron Fist". He was not happy with the album, although - or perhaps because - he produced it himself for the first time, and the band's otherwise very dirty sound is somewhat sterile. Still, songs like "Iron Fist", "Heart of Stone" and "Speedfreak" are in no way inferior to their predecessors. It wasn't until the 1990s that the band managed to release a similarly successful album.
