"A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" is the thirteenth LPm album by Pink Floyd. Originally released on September 7, 1987, it was the band's first studio album after Roger Waters left the band in December 1985. The eleven songs were mostly written by David Gilmour, who was also responsible for production along with Bob Ezrin. Recording took place at Gilmour's Astoria studio on a houseboat and at Mayfair Studios in London. The title "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" is a line from the song "One Slip", which is on the full-length album. The album reached number three in the UK and US and even reached number two in Germany. Basierend auf den für »The Later Years« verwendeten 1987er-Original-Mastertapes machte sich Andy Jackson mit David Gilmour und assistiert von Damon Iddins daran, die Aufnahmen neu abzumischen und zu aktualisieren. Das Album wird auf Vinyl, CD, DVD, Blu-ray mit Stereo- und 5.1-Mixen erhältlich sein.

Die Veröffentlichung des »The Later Years«-Projekts im Jahr 2019 bot die Gelegenheit, das ursprünglich 1987 veröffentlichte Album »A Momentary Lapse Of Reason« noch einmal neu in Augenschein zu nehmen. Indem sie zu einigen der ursprünglichen Keyboard-Takes von Richard Wright zurückgingen und die Schlagzeugspuren mit Nick Mason neu aufnahmen, konnten die Produzenten David Gilmour und Bob Ezrin ein besseres kreatives Gleichgewicht zwischen den drei Pink-Floyd-Mitgliedern herstellen.
