After the highly acclaimed debut "Psychotic Symphony" (2017) and the live album "Live with the Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony" (2019), Sons Of Apollo will return in January 2020! "MMXX" is the title of the new record, with which Mike Portnoy (drums), Derek Sherinian (keyboards), Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (guitar) and Billy Sheehan (bass) plan to take everything to the next level. "Stylistically, we're following up the debut," Portnoy explains. "But we feel the album is stronger simply because we know each other so much better. Psychotic Symphony was the first collaborative work between the five of us, so it was more experimental in nature. Now we can draw on the experience of not only recording the album, but also touring together. There is a much clearer chemistry between us now." "Each member of the band has their own unique sound of their instruments," adds Sherinian. "And when you put it all together, it makes an amazing five-piece beast. That's what gives rise to this band's distinct sound, which is very audible on 'MMXX'." "You'll hear unusual meters and amazingly crazy performances. Personally, I feel like I've gone much deeper musically than I ever have before. For example, there are great harmonies. Overall, we've been more adventurous this time than before and I'm sure people will like what we've done. "MMXX" is an album I'm proud of."
