The Last Exit is the fifth studio album from Still Corners, the project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Greg Hughes and singer Tessa Murray. With the shimmering desert noir sound the band has become known for, The Last Exit takes you on a hypnotic journey filled with decaying cities, mysterious shapes on the horizon, and long drives that blur the line between what is and what is not. Greg says, "We found something out there in the desert - something in the vast landscape that stretches on forever." The Last Exit consists of eleven beautifully crafted songs with organic instrumentation, cleanly tuned guitar, spacious drums and the smoky rasp of Tessa Murray. Highlights of the album include "The Last Exit", "White Sands" and "Shifting Dunes", which evoke the vast expanse of the desert and rolling, carefree skies. The Last Exit picks up where their transcendent debut Creatures of an Hour or 2018's haunting LP Slow Air left off. Fall 2020 and Still Corners have just released a stunning new number that is potentially the final track of three they're calling the "Still Corners Road Trilogy." It started with "The Trip", continued five years later with "The Message" and finally comes to a close with the title track "The Last Exit". However, this is just the beginning of another sublime Still Corners album. What's next? We're not sure, as the Still Corners Road trilogy may involve these three songs. Or, if Hughes and Murray are like filmmaker Peter Jackson, the final installment of the series will contain more parts. We'll find out when the band's fifth album, The Last Exit, hits stores. It will be released by Wrecking Light Records.
