It is the work of two musical legends who have come together to celebrate jazz music and the genre's greatest milestones. "Cheek To Cheek" is a collaborative project between Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett that spans multiple generations of artists and brings together several new interpretations of jazz classics and standards, both sung as duets and solos. The album features some of the best moments from the Great American Songbook - including "Anything Goes," "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," "Sophisticated Lady," "Lush Life" and "Cheek To Cheek," the title track of this LP. The two worked extensively on the collaborative album, which was recorded in New York, for over a year. Musicians who contributed to the recording included members of the Bennett Quartet, pianist Tom Lanier and jazz trumpeter and Lady Gaga's longtime creative partner Brian Newman. Other jazz soloists include tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano and flute virtuoso Paul Horn, who died in early July.

This September will be marked by perhaps the most anticipated album of the year! It will be the long-announced album by legendary jazzman Tony Bennett and pop diva Lady Gaga. The album will be in stores on September 19 under the title Cheek To Cheek.The two music icons recorded the album in New York and the whole process took more than a year. The album will not only feature duets by both artists, but also several songs that Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga recorded separately. In any case, it will offer the best pieces from the jazz history of the so-called Great American Songbook, i.e. such legendary jazz and swing songs as Anything Goes, It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), Sophisticated Lady, Lush Life or the title track Cheek To Cheek... A number of very exclusive musicians participated in the recording process. The Bennett Quartet, that is Mike Renzi, Gray Sargent, Harold Jones and Marshall Wood, were also present. Other guests included the excellent pianist Tom Lanier, jazz trumpeter Brian Newman, the amazing saxophonist Joe Lovano on some of the songs, and flutist Paul Horn, who sadly passed away earlier this month. "Cheek To Cheek was born out of a very organic friendship and relationship that Tony and I have had over the years, and the whole project required a lot of collaborative effort. It was very important to Tony that it was a jazz record. I've been singing jazz since I was a kid and I really wanted to show the authentic side of the genre. We've made a record of jazz songs, but with a modern twist," says Lady Gaga about the new project.Her words are confirmed by the first taste of the whole record, which is the track Anything Goes. This song was written by Coly Porter for the musical of the same name in 1934 and has since received many different covers (including one by Frank Sinatra).
